Good Win

Nice to see some small ball to move a runner into scoring position tonight.

Perhaps A-Rod has turned a corner with 2 big Home runs, the first being an A-Bomb. Players will slump it happens, but it always seems to be bigger in NY. Now that A-Rod has gotten a couple of hits, it will be Mark Teixiera that takes some heat for his lack of production.

The Jorge Posada situation seems to be getting worse as I was told the New York Post had a headline saying he wanted out of New York, if someone could shed some light on that, I’d appreciate it. Have a good one everybody and Go Yankees!

Yankees Baseball so far in 2011

Things started off great in the AL East for the Yankees as they started out the season winning a bunch of series.  They were winning with the home run and now there prowess of how to win games has kind of died down.  You have to be able to win games in other ways than always counting on the home run.

Who doesn’t love to see them?  Everyone does.  I know I get ecstatic every time I see one, but they Yankees seem to be relying on them.  It’s home runs or nothing.  We seem to have lost the idea of how to play small ball.

As I write this, the Yankees have just watched there 5-1 lead turn to a 6-5 deficit.  I could go on and on about all of this.  The fact of the matter is this, they need to be able to hold on to leads, and get back to the basics that made them a world series winner in 2009.  They didn’t just hit home runs, they got timely hits, and hit with runners in scoring position.  I will never give up in the Yankees, but there slug fest mentality needs to be retooled.  Singles, Doubles, and Triples can win games as well as bunt base hits.

Here is to hoping we turn it around.  Don’t even get me started on pitching.

Baseball is Back

I have been very lazy at keeping up with this Blog.  I think I needed to change some things with it so as to make myself write a little more.  I’m super excited for the year ahead and hope to see some great Baseball throughout the season.  On that note, lets discuss the Cardinals and Albert Pujols.

If I am the St. Louis Cardinals ownership I am asking myself this question; “How did we not lock up Albert a long time ago?”  This guy has the chance to break every hitting record ever, and most of them could come in your ballpark.  And you allow the premier slugger in all of Baseball to up and possibly walk away.  Now I know there is a chance a deal could be done before the season, but this is something that should have been done long before now.

If you have a player of Alberts stature and status who is putting up monster numbers every year, you should have locked him up a long time ago.  I’m certainly not a GM or owner of a Major League Franchise, however, I know a great talent and money maker in Albert Pujols.  If he leaves St. Louis, I feel bad for the fans, as they will now have to witness his talents and record breaking skills elsewhere.  Owners need to start thinking about locking a guy up long term a lot earlier than they have been.  Yes it’s a risk, but if you don’t take that risk, you could be losing out on possibly the best player to ever play the game walking out on you.  Best of luck St. Louis, for the fans I hope he stays.
